A new SDK for the Zoom developer platform has been announced. It is stated that the Zoom Apps SDK gives programmers the tools and infrastructure they need to create Zoom Apps for the Zoom client.
The coronavirus outbreak caused the Zoom video conferencing app to become widely used.
The first SDKs from Zoom were made available in 2019, giving developers a method to include Zoom’s basic engine into mobile or desktop apps, allowing users to start or join Zoom video meetings directly from the app.
Access to client functionalities is made possible by the JavaScript SDK for Zoom Apps. With the user and meeting identifiers, it employs a way to obtain the meeting context.
The Zoom Developer Platform has a variety of API endpoints, including REST APIs and Webhooks, that may be used with these identifiers to do tasks like adjusting the Virtual Background and giving the app context for the interaction.
Developers will be able to list their apps on the App Marketplace and in the Zoom client, where they may be installed even while in a Zoom meeting, according to the Zoom team. The Zoom desktop window and other Zoom meetings can also be used with apps to “create collaborative experiences for asynchronous collaboration.”
The Zoom conference participants in your Zoom meeting might divide into smaller groups thanks to the collaborative capabilities included in the SDK.
Web applications are run as web views by Zoom Apps in an embedded browser within the Zoom client. An established web application can be easily extended or modified. A developer can connect accounts and provide user-level authentication and authorization using industry-standard OAuth.
Developers can use several reference apps that have been posted on GitHub as a jumping-off point for creating Zoom Apps. A web application using OAuth is used by the fundamental reference app to alter the Virtual Background.
