The young king of the futuristic African nation of Wakanda is the subject of a new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer, which just made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con. The trailer opens with the women in his life lamenting his absence.
Although we don’t know how he died, he is no longer with us. Marvel Studios declared after Chadwick Boseman passed away from cancer that it would not recast his famous role as T’Challa, opting instead to let the hero rest with him.
On a mural in the capital of Wakanda, Boseman can be seen watching two drummers play. It is impossible to read the complete sentence, but the Wakandan alphabet translates it as follows: “The Panther King Forever Lives In Us And Rests…”
