Banana Boat: Sunscreen Trashed For Cancer-causing Chemicals

Banana Boat hair and scalp sunscreen has had several batches recalled due to the presence of benzene, a carcinogen.

Edgewell Personal Care, the company that makes Banana Boats, stated in a news release that the sunscreen is significant but reasonably restricted. Anyone who has the impacted products should discard them and submit a refund request.

A notice from the Food and Drug Administration contained the precise product numbers and expiration dates.

Edgewell said that benzene was only present in the propellant used to spray the sunscreen from cans, not in the sunscreen itself.

Numerous malignancies, including leukemia, bone marrow disorders, and heart problems have all been associated with benzoene found in the suncreen.
