Ozzie Albies Will Miss Monday’s Game Against The Braves Due To A Fractured Left Foot

ozzie albies leaves monday brace with fractured

Ozzie Albies collapsed to the ground in the fifth inning of Monday’s game against the Nationals after an awkward swing that resulted in a groundout to the shortstop.

Albies, the brilliant second baseman, shattered his left foot, and the team received awful news soon after. Brian Snitker, the Braves manager, said he had no idea how long Albies would be sidelined.

The Braves added veteran infielder Phil Gosselin to their major-league roster on Tuesday. Albies was placed on the 60-day injured list, making room on the 40-man roster for Gosselin.

Albies is batting.244 with a.694 OPS this season after going 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored before leaving Monday’s game.

But, like the rest of his teammates, he’d gotten hot recently, going on a seven-game hitting streak that featured two home runs.

Albies is an important element of the lineup, even if he hasn’t yet lived up to his full potential for the majority of the season. He has two Silver Slugger Awards and has been named to the All-Star team twice.

Albies was replaced at second base by Orlando Arcia in the bottom of the fifth inning. On the Braves 26-man roster, Arcia is the only backup infielder. To be safe, the Braves will almost certainly need to add another infielder.

Kramer Robertson, who was taken off waivers by the Braves recently, is on the 40-man roster and can play second base.

In Triple-A, the Braves have a few choices. None of the players are on the 40-man roster.

Shortstop On MLB Pipeline, Braden Shewmake is the club’s No. 5 prospect. For the time being, Phil Gosselin, Pat Valaika, and Ryan Goins are all veterans who may fill in. Another name to keep an eye on is Joe Dunand.

Of course, Alex Anthopoulos, the president of baseball operations, may leave the organization. He did that last season to aid the team’s outfield.

The Braves have won 12 straight games. They plan to keep moving forward, even if losing Albies hurts.

Albies’ power was on display early in the season, when he hit five home runs in a single week in April. During that time, he hit three home runs in a row.

However, from April 27 until the end of May, he had a.583 OPS. This season, he went 40 games without hitting a home run, the longest such skid in his career.

Nonetheless, the Braves require his services. On both sides of the chalk, he’s a stud.

They can only hope that he recovers quickly and returns to them.
