President Biden’s chief medical adviser and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the National Institutes of Health, the 81-year-old has been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus and has been boosted twice. He’s having moderate symptoms and plans to isolate himself and work from home. According to a spokesman for the agency, he was also provided Paxlovid, an anti-COVID medicine.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, Fauci has played a key role in leading the US government’s response.
The CIA assured the public that Fauci had not lately communicated with Vice President Joe Biden or other high-ranking government officials.
