Before Luke Bracey became an Australian actor, he had always been a movie buff. He said he was captivated by film’s ability to create emotional and relevant stories from the time he saw “Gladiator” (2000) at the age of ten.

Bracey was born in 1989 in Sydney, Australia. He grew up surfing and playing rugby.

He considered pursuing a career as a professional rugby player until he was cast in the serial opera “Home and Away” (7 Network, 1988-) when he was 19 years old.

He was cast in the role and stayed on the show for six months, during which he discovered his passion for acting.

The next year, Bracey relocated to Los Angeles in order to establish himself in mainstream Hollywood.

He got his first feature film role in the Selena Gomez tween comedy “Monte Carlo,” after a few cameos on the WB series “Dance Academy” (2010-2011). Bracey’s popularity soared quickly.

In the film “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” (2013), he played the iconic bad guy Cobra Commander, and in the action thriller “November Man,” he co-starred alongside Pierce Brosnan (2014).

He was cast in the renowned part of Johnny Utah in a remake of the 1991 blockbuster hit Point Break (2015) after a romantic role in Nicholas Sparks’ romance “The Best of Me” (2014).

He has worked as a creative content writer for Arts Lounge, Safe Place Community, Jet Sanza, Tv Afrinet, and the Los Angeles Journal. He is also a lazy devotee of the sacred art of words [and storytelling]; a firm believer in people, highs, & the potency of ideas; a mental health advocate and THC activist, who wastes unsober moments thinking about thinking when he is not tinkering thoughts on everything.
