Jay Weaver was a bassist and vocalist for the Christian band Big Daddy Weave.
Big Daddy Weave has been a part of the Christian music scene for decades, and their songs “My Story” and “I Know” have topped several charts.
Jay Weaver was an active performer for the band until seven years ago. His body began to succumb to an infection in early 2015. His health declined as the year went by, and his life was in jeopardy.
It got to a point where both of his feet were amputated to save his life.
After the amputation, Jay went through a period of recuperation that was painful and challenging.
He debated his condition and the necessity of life and living. He was afflicted with depression and contemplated taking his life.
Jay’s father, Russ Weaver, died on Christmas Day that same year, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Jay’s mother Pat, who had been a long-time supporter of Big Daddy Weave, was afflicted with cancer not long after.
Jay died on the 2nd of February, 2022. He reportedly died of Covid-19 complications coupled with everything else he was going through at that point.
He was 42 when he passed.
Big Daddy Weave was founded in 1998 in Mobile, Alabama, and has since released nine studio albums.
When The Light Comes, the group’s most recent album, debuted at No. 14 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart in 2019.
