However, the once-celebrated unknown gunmen are now been dreaded in the Eastern region of Nigeria. The once-happy traders now lament the steady loss of business they are forced to endure with the mandatory Monday sit-at-home and other incessant sit-at-home orders issued from time to time.
Many people have been killed by the sit-at-home enforcers especially under the leadership of Simon Ekpa, following the continued incaceration of Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian government.
Crime in the eastern region, especially kidnapping and cult-related activities is now the order of the day. Whatever heinous crime committed is quickly blamed on “unknown gunmen”.
