This 33-Year-Old Moved To Georgia From The United States And Lives On $1,592 A Month: ‘I’M Now Semi-Retired’

Mike Swigunski was one of the millions of people who were quarantined in 2020 when the Covid-19 virus swept the globe. Swigunski was 6,000 miles from home, alone in a foreign nation, instead of hunkering down with roommates or family.

Swigunski had only intended to spend 30 days in Georgia, a small country sandwiched between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. However, when Georgia closed its borders in early March to help stop the virus from spreading, the Missouri native was obliged to stay in Tbilisi longer.

However, Swigunski recalls falling in love with Tbilisi’s old-world beauty as well as its laid-back culture of wonderful food and kind welcome. Swigunski, 33, is now a nomadic entrepreneur based in Tbilisi, a decision that has allowed him to live “a higher quality of life at a fraction of the expense,” he tells CNBC Make It.

“I would have to work a lot more if I lived in the United States,” Swigunski continues. I’m now semi-retired.”
