Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has vowed to reduce the size of the federal government of Nigeria once he wins the position of the office of the president.
Atiku who doubles as a presidential aspirant made this known while he was addressing some delegates of the People Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday where he promised to address the issues of power devolution to states and local government areas.
In his words, he said;
“There is (a) need for powers and resources to be devolved to states and LGAs for them to effectively do their work. My view is for the federal government to be small in size,”
He also disclosed his aim of working with the governors, and national and state assemblies to channel more power to the state and local government and as well as fighting insecurity.
