Hausa Community Ask Sanwo-Olu To Lift Ban On Okada, Promise To Get Him Votes

A Hausa community in the Obalende area of Lagos state has urged Sanwo-Olu to lift his ban on the operations of bikes ‘okada’ operations in the state.

This is coming after it was reported that the government imposed a ban on okada in some parts of the state following the viral news of how bike men killed and burnt a sound engineer over #100 naira change.

Moments after the new rule, the Seriki of Obalende called on the state government to have a second thought on the decision as he also suggests that the data of all okada riders should be documented to be able to nab offenders.

In his full words, he said;

“This issue has taken us a long time and we have been trying to put our members on the line. I want to advise the government to rethink its decision because Lagos can’t operate without bikes because of traffic. Government should register Okada riders in each local government
to know those working in any local government. By so doing, the government would know who to pick when any issue arises.
“Some of our members stay here in Lagos and vote during elections. That should count for something because we contribute to votes during elections. The government should change the system of Okada riders not stopping them.”
