Katie Taylor Is Confident In Her Ability To Deliver Her Greatest Performance On This Momentous Night In New York

Taylor, the undisputed world lightweight champion, will defend all of her titles against Amanda Serrano, the seven-weight champion of Puerto Rico.

It will be the first time female fighters have headlined a show at the New York venue, according to Taylor, who told the PA news agency: “This has been termed the biggest bout in female boxing history, and you can feel the buzz around this battle ever since it was announced.”

Taylor became only the eighth boxer during the four-belt era, male or female, to hold all four world titles – WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF – at the same time when she fought Belgium’s Delfine Persoon in 2019.

Serrano, the unified featherweight champion, has won 42 of her 44 professional fights, with one draw and one loss. She has won nine world titles in seven different weight divisions.

Taylor dominated her weight division as an amateur, earning five gold medals in a row at the World Championships, and has a perfect 20-0 record since going pro in 2016.

Serrano appears to be the more powerful puncher, having knocked out 30 of her opponents compared to Taylor’s six.

Taylor is highly famous in Ireland – she was the flag-bearer for her country before winning gold at London 2012 – and draws motivation from her legions of admirers who will be cheering her on from the stands.
