PSV’s captain produced a glancing header past Grabar and into the net: 1-1. One minute later, though, the visitors had regained the lead. Rasmus Falk robbed Joey Veerman and midfielder Pep Blei popped up to steer a shot past Drommel: 1-2. Madueke had a glorious chance to level after a great link-up with Mario Götz but sent this effort the wrong side of the post. FC Copenhagen took a two-goal advantage in the 43rd minute when Lucas Lerager, left completely unmarked, headed home Pep Biel’s corner. Doan had been on the field for five minutes when he pulled a goal back for PSV. A corner was half-cleared and the Japanese winger drive a low volley into the net: 2-3. PSV were back in the game and showed resilience and character when they went in search of more goals. Gakpo, Erick Gutiérrez and Philipp Max had their shots saved, while Grabara somehow thwarted Eran Zahavi.
PSV piled up the pressure and referee Craig Pawson pointed to the spot in the 62nd minute for a foul from Peter Ankersen on Philipp Max. Cody Gakpo stepped up but the keeper went down the right way and saved the spot kick. PSV kept on battling for every inch and were rewarded for their fighting spirit in the 70th minute when Mario Gotze shot at Grabara from close range. The rebound fell to Cody Gakpo, who blasted home: 3-3.
