He was part of the 10th season of American Idol, but he crashed out of the reality show when his votes could not make him remain in the show.

He released his debut album, Mercury Lane in October 2018. “Best Shot” became the Number One hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in November 2018, making him the first Black artist to send his debut single to the top of that chart.
