ASUU Strike: Federal Govt. Pledges Commitment In Investing In Education

Reports have it that the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has disclosed that the Federal government is ready to invest “hugely in education to ensure quality teaching and learning.”

This is coming days after the minister walked out on the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Sunday Asefon while they were discussing the ongoing national strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Adamu opened up on the government’s commitment towards facilitating education through his message announced by the Minister of State for Education, identified as  Mr. Chukuemeka Nwajiuba, during the 33rd convocation ceremony of the Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, that reads;

“This administration invests hugely in education to ensure quality teaching and learning.

“Government has ensured that all tertiary institutions in the country received robust interventions from TetFund to boost infrastructure in institutions.

“Many structures I inaugurated earlier today in this college before the convocation ceremony, attest to government’s huge funding on tertiary institutions in the country.

“It is because of the regard government has for teachers as critical stakeholders in education that it upgraded teachers’ retirement age from 60 to 65 years,”
