One of the trains purchased by the Nigerian Federal Government was captured on video burning.
The burning train was reported to be that of Warri-Itakpe, and the incident was also said to have happened about three weeks ago, before Christmas.
The embarrassing video captured the moment staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) were battling to put off the inferno with leaves from tree branches because there was no fire extinguisher in any of the train coaches.
See video below:
However, the MD of the corporation, Engineer Fidet Okhiria is blowing hot, threatening to sack whoever was responsible for the video leak, because, according to him, the leak was an act of sabotage.
“The MD has called our Coordinator this morning to find out how the video got leaked. An investigation is ongoing to know who videoed the incident and why it was leaked. The incident happened three weeks ago. Why somebody will release a video of an incident that happened three weeks ago is not yet known, but whoever did this will be severely dealt with.”

The fire on the train was eventually put out, but not before substantial damage was done.
An investigation was said to be underway, according to reports.
