As the SETI Institute would say, If you have skies that allow you to see the falling meteors hit our planet earth, now is the best time!

A meteor, according to Oxford, is a small body of matter from outer space that enters the earth’s atmosphere, becoming incandescent as a result of friction and appearing as a streak of light.

According to NASA, a kind of meteor called the Quadrantid meteors will hit the earth from tonight till January 12, 3rd and 4th being its peak.

The falling meteors or shooting stars as many call them, are expected to hit the earth at speeds of about 41 kilometers per second and have about 80 falling at a time within an hour.

If you are interested in viewing this spectacular annual phenomenon, you are advised to move away from dense city areas or places with high air pollution to areas of clearer skies, for better sighting.

You are also advised to arrive at your best viewing centers about 20 minutes before the rain of meteors start, to allow your eyes adjust properly to the dark.
