Jussie Smollett was found to be lying under oath to a jury as well as faking an anti-gay and racist attack on himself for reasons best known to him.
He was found guilty on five out of six felony counts of disorderly conduct and making a false report to the police in 2019.
It was revealed that Jussie Smollett procured two men, Olabinjo Osundairo and Abimbola Osundairo, paid them $3,500 and directed them to stage an anti-gay and racist attack on him.
39-year-old Jussie Smollett, who is black and gay, while making the false report to the police, said two men attacked him close to his Chicago home, yelling anti-gay and racist language at him, put a noose around his neck, and poured bleach on him.
He also added that they exclaimed “This is MAGA country,” probably referencing former US President Donald Trump’s slogan of “Make America Great Again”.
Jussie Smollett’s sentencing will be heard at a later date. Meanwhile, he was reported to have lost his role in the Empire TV show.
