The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Christmas day as a public holiday for the celebration of the birth of Lord Jesus Christ by the Christians. The New year and Boxing day were also declared as public holidays.
The information was announced by the Federal Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who also urged everyone to emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ. According to the ex-governor, he said;
“We must emulate the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace and righteousness, that His birth signifies.
“This will be the best way to portray Christ and celebrate his birth,”
