The Nigerian government held a 5G spectrum auction at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja where MTN, Airtel, and Mafab Communication came to place their bid for the two slots available.
It was reported that each network organization went through a bidding room after they all partook in an opening session in the presence of the state security services (SSS) who were responsible for restricting officials of the firm from leaving the room until the normal procedure was declared over.
The National Communication Commission (NCC) fixed the based price at $197.4million but Airtel later lost to Mtn and Mafab who won the bid at $273million.
