South Africa’s former President, Zuma, was sentenced to 15 months in jail after the Court found him guilty of corruption, money laundering, contempt of court, among others.
79 year old Zuma received a 15-month prison sentence because the court found him guilty of corruption and looting of government-owned businesses and departments during his 9 year tenure between 2009 and 2018.
Other charges he also faces include fraud and money laundering in connection with military arms deals with European arms manufacturers.
The court sentencing was pronounced in his absence as he failed to appear in court. He was also reported to have not been cooperative in the investigation.
