Twitter responded to Buhari, “expressing deep concerns”, after they were banned by President Buhari in Nigeria, for deleting his hate tweet which went against Twitter guidelines.
Twitter’s response was contained in an enquiry sent to them by The Cable. Twitter responded saying;
“The announcement made by the Nigerian Government that they have suspended Twitter’s operations in Nigeria is deeply concerning.
“We’re investigating and will provide updates when we know more.”
The ban on Twitter in Nigeria was announced through the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, headed by Lai Mohammed. In his reason for banning Twitter in Nigeria, the Minister added;
“The mission of Twitter in Nigeria is very very suspect,”
“Has Twitter deleted the violent tweets that Nnamdi Kanu has been sending? The same Twitter, during the #ENDSARS protests, that was funding #ENDSARS protesters!
“We are not going to be fooled by anybody. We have a country to rule and we will do so to the best of our ability. Twitter’s mission in Nigeria citing those two examples is very suspect. What is their agenda?
Meanwhile, Facebook has also deleted Buhari’s post on his Facebook page for the same violation of policy by inciting violence. Will Buhari also ban Facebook in Nigeria?
